Make your best move!
Our mission is to provide moving care that creates raving fans.
Moving a student is a different job from moving a household. The window is short, the elevator is shared with a few hundred other families, the room is the size of a parking space, and the stuff has to be back again in four months. Correira Brothers’ Moving & Storage is a Providence moving company that handles college and student moves, from a single dorm room to a four-person off-campus apartment.
We move students at Brown, RISD, Providence College, Johnson & Wales, Rhode Island College and URI, as well as students heading to or from Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York. Our crews arrive on time, wrap and protect furniture, and can store everything over the summer so you never have to haul a futon home to another state.
Moving a college, school or university department rather than a student? See our school and university movers page.
We load at the residence hall, move your things in the order the room needs them, and unload at your new place or at our storage. For move-out week we can come to the dorm, take the fridge, desk chair and boxes, and have everything stored before your last exam is graded.
Many Providence leases start in July or September, and campus housing often ends before the lease begins. We can hold your belongings in storage and deliver them the day your lease starts.
Studios, one-bedrooms and shared three- and four-bedroom apartments. We coordinate with roommates so one crew handles several rooms in one trip. See our apartment movers page for how we handle stairs, walk-ups and elevators.
Store furniture, bikes, lamps and boxes in our climate-controlled storage over the summer and have it delivered in the fall. We also advertise one month of free storage with a move, so ask about the current offer when you request a quote.
Parents can book and pay for a move on a student’s behalf, and we can pick up from one address and deliver to another without the student being there. International students who arrive with a few boxes can use our moving help service for just loading and unloading.
If finals leave no time for boxes, our packing services cover full or partial packing. We can also unpack at the new place.
College moves in Providence have some quirks that a student-focused crew plans for:
Other campuses we regularly serve include URI in South Kingstown, Bryant University in Smithfield, Roger Williams University in Bristol, Salve Regina in Newport, and students moving to and from Boston.
Most student moves are billed by the hour with a crew of two or more movers and a two-hour minimum, so the price depends on how much you have, how far the truck has to go and how easy the loading is. A one-room dorm move usually takes much less time than a roommate-filled apartment with three flights of stairs. We give every student a free, no-obligation quote before the day.
Typical student jobs include a dorm room to storage, a dorm to a nearby apartment, a studio or one-bedroom apartment, and a shared two- to four-bedroom apartment. Crews of two to four movers are common, and larger moves can be quoted as a fixed price instead of hourly.
What changes the price: number of movers, travel distance, stairs and elevators, long carries from the truck, packing materials and whether you add packing or storage.
Discounts: we take 10% off the hourly rate for repeat customers, referrals, senior citizens and military veterans, so a student whose family has moved with us before may qualify.
Deposits: deposits are nonrefundable but never expire, can be rescheduled with at least 72 hours’ notice and can be transferred to a friend or family member.
